Candle Luminaries and Lighted Boat Parade

CANDLES: Please join the entire neighborhood on Christmas Eve as we continue our long-standing tradition of lining our streets and seawalls with luminary candles and lighting them at 7pm. In ancient times, luminaries were built along the roads to light the way for travelers enroute to Bethlehem. It is truly impressive and almost a spiritual event when entire neighborhoods are embraced in the evening by the soft candlelight. Having the candles along the seawall also really helps to guide our boat parade safely thoughout our canal system.

For more information about our candle tradition,

please call Jean Tyack at 576-9300 or Donna Hoover at 579-3644.

BOAT PARADE: Also on Christmas Eve, we have a Lighted Boat Parade that winds throughout our canal system, starting somewhere around dusk. Many of our residents plan big backyard parties around this event. This year, we would like to have a "Captain's meeting" before the parade to plan our route, because it will be a bit different than traditionally done. Like last year, we want to bring the parade to more people, and have some of the smaller boats venture farther up canals, where the bigger boats aren't practical. Please contact Hal in advance, to discuss where you and your boat fit into the plan. For more information about this year's boat parade, please contact Hal Hammer at HalHammerJr@aol.com or at (727) 576-5257.

 SAVE ON GROCERIES

SHARE is a Florida Food Network, it is sponsored by the United Methodist Center and TECO Energy.  They are a non-profit organization that rewards personal community involvement with substantial savings on their grocery bills.  All you have to do is volunteer 2 hours a month in order to receive these savings!  You could literally save 30 to 50 % off your grocery bill.  There are no income requirements or limitations, all you have to do is a little bit of work.

3 site locations in our area are the First Baptist Church at 1900 Gandy Blvd N, and Holy Family Catholic Church at 200 78th Avenue NE, and Northside Church of Christ at 6329 9th Street North.
